What’s up all – welcome to my Ghost Whey review, where I’ll be doing a super deep-dive on this popular protein powder.

This is one of the hottest proteins on the market, and for good reason…

In this Ghost Whey review, you’ll find out exactly why people (like me) are obsessed with this stuff.

What to Expect in This Ghost Whey Review

Just like all my protein reviews, we’re going to go over all of the key aspects of Ghost Whey.

We start as usual by talking about the brand itself.

It’s absolutely critical to understand what the brand behind your products is all about before putting their product in your mouth.

(That sounded dirty lol)

But seriously – in the supplement industry you need to trust your brand – so we’ll talk about Ghost, the company, first.

Next, we’ll dive into these awesome flavors.

There are some really tasty Ghost Whey flavors and I’ve tried them all, so that you don’t have to…

I’ll give you my famous ‘tasting notes’ for each flavor, and then share which one I liked best.

After that, we’ll talk about the ingredients, and the macros.

We finish things up by talking about the packaging, before wrapping up the review with a value analysis, and of course a final review summary.

If that all works for you, let’s ‘Ghostbust’ this protein!

About Ghost Lifestyle

Ghost was one of the most unique brands to emerge in the nutrition space in the 00s…

And they’ve been copied by many since they started the ‘lifestyle brand’ trend within the supplement industry.

Back then, they were the ONLY lifestyle supplement brand on the market…

And of course now their strategy has been imitated by the likes of Podium, Beam, and others.

But Ghost is basically the ‘OG’ in the lifestyle space, and they continue to make incredible products.

Ghost Whey being is flagship protein product, but they also have had incredible success with Ghost Legend Pre Workout, and most recently, Ghost Energy.

Rumor has it that they are releasing a new Ghost Hydration product this year, too.

As you know, I am a big supplement geek, so I always like to keep my finger on the pulse of what the big brands are doing.

But anyways, since I was really impressed by their Ghost Legend pre workout, I was eager to try their Ghost Whey protein.

My goal when trying Ghost Whey was to answer a few important questions:

  • First, what is the best flavor of Ghost Whey?
  • Second, are the ingredients in Ghost Whey safe, and high quality?
  • Lastly, based on the cost, should you buy Ghost Whey?

These are the burning questions on my mind as I browsed the Ghost website to grab one jar of each of their amazing flavors…

Oh real quick – I always am sure to share where I first heard about the brand that I review…

How I First Heard About Ghost Whey

I think I was like one of the very first people on earth to hear about Ghost.

You guys know I am such a supplement industry nerd that I knew about this brand right from the get-go when they launched.

I don’t even remember where I first heard about them, but obviously I’m glad I did.

Ghost Whey Flavor Review

Okay, so I have very high expectations for Ghost Whey.

I just finished up my inside look at the EVL Stacked Protein powder a few days ago, and I found it to be quite a basic product.

There was literally nothing fancy about it.

So I needed a good bounce-back from Ghost…

And that’s exactly what I got.

I made a mega-order of the 6 most popular Ghost Whey flavors, and immediately set about trying them.

Here’s what I thought of each flavor:

Cinnabon

This flavor is absolutely epic.

I don’t know how they did it, but Ghost really did make this flavor taste like a real Cinnabon.

It tastes exactly like you took a Cinnabon from the mall, put it in a blender, and made the most insane protein shake ever.

It does not taste like protein-y at all…

It is seriously incredible and I don’t know how they did it.

The cinnamon amount is just right, and you can really taste some frosting flavor too…

One of the best-tasting protein shakes I’ve ever had.

Oreo

The Oreo flavor had a tough act to follow since I tried the Cinnabon first, but this one was really good too.

I don’t know if it had quite as much of the actual Oreo flavor as I had hoped for…

But it was super tasty.

I will say that with the Ghost Oreo flavor, that some more of the ‘protein’ flavor comes through.

Just something to keep in mind.

I wish it had some more like, I don’t know, ‘chunks’ too if that makes sense…

Either way this flavor was fire and would totally recommend to any of my ‘Oreo-lovers’ out there.

Moving on…

Chips Ahoy

This one (and the Oreo – I forgot to mention) is an official colab with the actual food company…

So Chips Ahoy teamed up with Ghost to make this flavor, and the results are incredible.

This flavor is sweet, and really does taste like the Chips Ahoy cookies that we grew up with.

Similar to the Cinnabon, and Oreo flavors, I’m shocked with how accurately they were able to match protein shake flavor to real life food flavor.

Also real quick – the texture on this one is also just a tiny bit more ‘chalky’ than the Cinnabon.

Nutter Butter

The final ‘colab’ flavor of Ghost Whey that I tried was the Nutter Butter.

To be quite honest with you guys – I’ve don’t think I’ve had a real Nutter Butter cookie in like… 20 years.

So I sort of remember it being a spiced peanut-butter flavor?

I guess this flavor was okay, but it’s hard for me to compare since I don’t remember the real Nutter Butter flavor…

This flavor is super drinkable though – it’s a little bit less sweet than the others, and I found myself sipping it constantly.

Cereal Milk

If you learn one thing from this Ghost Whey Protein review, it’s that I’m a big fan of cereal milk, and I always have been.

Cereal milk is of course the milk left in the cereal bowl after you eat the cereal.

It was the best part of morning before running out to catch the bus to school.

And that’s what this flavor is supposed to taste like…

And while I really loved Alani Nu Protein’s cereal milk flavor…

I have completely fallen in love with Ghost’s Cereal Milk flavored protein.

I don’t know who came up with the idea of a cereal milk protein but it’s absolutely on point.

The flavor is like if you took the bottom of the iconic ‘Cinnamon Toast Crunch’ bag…

Then dumped in a few ‘Apple Jacks’, and then a little bit of ‘Cinnamon Life’…

And then just a hint of ‘Fruity Pebbles’ for good measure…

And then swirled it all around in the milk, and drank it.

It’s sweet, salty, and has more flavor than your brain can even process.

It’s sweet, salty, and has more flavor than your brain can even process…”

lovelyreviews.com

I totally 100% love it and know you would too.

Cereal milk is Ghost’s original, and most popular flavor, so they actually made a peanut butter version of it:

Peanut Butter Cereal Milk

The original cereal milk flavor is iconic, and the peanut butter cereal milk is an impressive riff on the original.

This flavor still has a myriad of fun, nostalgic cereal flavors, but with a salty, nutty twist.

It actually kind of tastes like the Nutter Butter flavor, mixed with the original Cereal Milk flavor.

This flavor was not bad by any means, but it wasn’t my favorite.

It’s almost like there was just too much going on with this one.

What’s the Best Flavor of Ghost Whey?

Look – it was insanely difficult to pick a favorite of these Ghost Whey flavors.

They literally have 3 or 4 flavors that seriously might be my favorite protein flavor ever…

But if I had to pick just one, I think it has to be the Cinnabon.

If you’re like me, the classic Cinnabon will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Walking around the mall with our friends, and getting Cinnabon was like the greatest time of our lives…

And this Ghost protein flavor transports me straight back to those days…

For that reason alone, Cinnabon is the best flavor of Ghost Whey.

Here’s how I would rank the flavors that I tried:

  1. Cinnabon
  2. Cereal Milk
  3. Chips Ahoy
  4. Oreo
  5. Nutter Butter
  6. Peanut Butter Cereal Milk

But again, you literally can’t go wrong with any Ghost Whey flavor, this is just how I would rank them.

Now that we’ve covered taste, why don’t we actually look into the Ghost Whey ingredients now…

Ghost Whey Formula Review

So, this formula is quite basic, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing when it comes to protein formulas.

Similar to most proteins out there, this whey-based formula uses a few different types of whey- namely isolate and concentrate.

A nice little twist that Ghost has put on their Ghost Whey is that they tell us exactly how much protein each type is delivering in the formula.

They want you to see how the weight in grams of each protein type directly translates into actual grams of complete protein, so on the tub itself they show you the following:

  1. Whey Protein Isolate: 14 g deriving 12.5 g (roughly)
  2. Whey Concentrate: 13 g deriving 10 g
  3. Hydrolyzed Whey Isolate: 3 g deriving 2.5 g

I think that’s pretty neat.

Many proteins won’t go to such lengths to disclose the real amounts of whey that they use…

So the fact that Ghost makes this effort is a really nice little piece of formulating on their part.

This is also the main reason why I’m awarding them an above average grade on the formula.

Basically what they’ve done is rule out any chance of protein spiking, or shady practice.

Since they are disclosing and breaking down exactly where every gram of protein comes from, they are establishing trust.

Nice job to Ghost on that.

Here’s the full list of Ghost Whey ingredients…

Ghost Whey Ingredients

  • Whey Protein Isolate
  • Whey Protein Concentrate
  • Natural & Artificial Flavor
  • Salt
  • Digestive Enzymes
  • Cellulose Gum
  • Xanthan Gum
  • Sucralose

NOTES:

I really like how they include digestive enzymes to help with digestion, since alot of protein powders can cause stomach issues like bloating

The only thing keeping them from getting a perfect score on this formula is the usage of the sucralose to sweeten, and of course artificial flavorings

This formula does use some ‘gums’ to give a pleasant texture, but they aren’t the ‘cleanest’ ingredients…if you want a protein without gums, lookin into something like Promix protein

Overall I don’t mind the Ghost formula – they don’t claim it to be the most ‘natural’ product out there, so the artificials don’t bother me too too much…

Let’s take a peek at the macros and see what they look like.

Ghost Whey Macros

The macros are usually pretty consistent from protein powder to protein powder, but it’s always good to double check for anything unusual…

Here are the macros per scoop / serving of Ghost Whey:

  • Calories 130
  • Total Fat 1g
  • Cholesterol 40mg
  • Sodium 150mg
  • Total Carbohydrate 4g
  • Dietary Fiber 0g
  • Total Sugars 2g
  • Protein 25g

NOTES:

The amount of protein is higher than most proteins these days at 25 grams per serving…some brands are lowering their protein per serving because of ‘shrinkflation’, but so far Ghost is staying strong

The total sugars are low, as expected, since we learned that they do use some artificial sweeteners to give the sweetness level…

Like most protein powders, the overall calories, and total fat are very low at just 130, and 1g, respectively

Nothing else really jumped off the label at me in terms of the Ghost Whey macros…

This product would be great for anyone looking to add more protein to their diet without adding calories or extra fats or sugars.

So the ingredients, and macros check out…

But what about the packaging?

Let’s take a look…

Ghost Whey Protein Packaging Review

The Ghost team has done more than just a few things right when it comes to branding and labeling.

As you read in my Ghost Legend review, I have found that the Ghost brand has vaulted very close to the top of my list of best-looking sports nutrition products.

I love the colors, the fonts, and most of all, the over-arching vibe that gives Ghost it’s edge.

It seems to pay tribute to the free spirits and the rebels and the non-conformists.

The people that I want to align with.

I just really think it’s brilliant, and it has an emotional clout that very few supplement companies claim.

I love the Ghost Whey label because it keeps the Ghost style, but has a bit more warmth to the color palette.

It has a bit of the same colors you would expect from cereal milk, actually.

Tans, whites, and faded colors of milk-soaked corn cereals. Genius design, overall.

Great job by the Ghost team.

So the labeling is great…

But there’s one more thing we need to check off our list.

And that is looking at the price of this protein, and if it’s worth the money.

Is Ghost Whey Worth the Money?

This is really important to me, and most of my readers these days.

With the cost of gas, groceries, and of course rent sky-rocketing…

The last thing we want to spend money on is expensive protein powder.

But at the same time, we also still want quality in our products.

So Ghost has the quality part down…

But what does it cost?

Well, for their standard 26 serving tub (which is about 2 lbs), the price is $44.99.

Which, in my opinion, is a very fair price, given how much protein per serving you get.

This shakes out to being about less than $2 / serving, which honestly isn’t bad for a quality protein powder.

Of course I wish it was just a little bit cheaper, but that probably just isn’t possible in this day and age.

So the bottom line is that yes, this protein is well-worth the money, and fairly-priced.

…the bottom line is that yes, this protein is well-worth the money, and fairly-priced.
