Today we’re going to do a Happy Way protein powder review. The specific Happy Way protein that I tried was called ‘Top of the Choc’ and it was, well, you’ll see in this Happy Way review! In this fun little delicacy of a review, you’ll learn many things. Perhaps most importantly, you will learn that I am the queen of all supplement reviews. I really am. I make these things light and fun. Way easier than reading one of those trillion word Instagram captions these days. Yeah I get it you want to game the algorithm. But I don’t want to read your life story. I just want to stare at your abs. Dwayne. The Rock. Hehe. Jk Dwayne. You write as much as you want. Ok. Oh my aren’t we off track already! Let’s just get cracking on this Happy Way Protein review.

So. You probably want to know a few things off the bat. Is it vegan? No. Is it all natural? Sure. Does it taste good? Pause. Let’s start with that actually.

Does Happy Way Protein Taste Good?

Sigh. It’s tough. It’s really tough when you really really want to love a product but there’s just something about it that doesn’t come through for you. So often the case with these protein powders is that they just don’t taste QUITE as good as I wish they did. And I have to say regretfully that Happy Way protein is falling squarely into that category. I think a chocolate flavored protein powder should be really big, and bold, and full of life. I just don’t get that from this one. I get small, and shy, and apologetic. It starts off a little sweet, but then fizzles out into blandness. It starts out a tiny bit like a milk chocolate shake, and then even those flavors disappear into a sort of meager coconut taste. Don’t be apologetic, Happy Way! Be fun and big! Ah. So. What am I even saying, you ask.

I’m saying that Happy Way Top of the Choc protein is just missing something. And that something is deeper, more bold flavor. More ‘oomph’, if you will. A flavor that lasts longer, and harder. That’s what she said. Lol. But you get the picture. Happy Way would be a much better product overall if it tasted better. And that’s really the morale of the story here. Because the whole rest of this Top of the Choc protein review will be spent singing the praises of this product. Let’s go to the formulation, where there’s not a negative word to be said.

Happy Way Protein is Formulated Brilliantly.

The formulation is the strongest element of this product. The ingredients are so clean and simply you could eat off of them. Wait. You straight up eat them. I butchered that phrase. Lol. Do you understand what I mean though? It’s a really nice, clean formula. Very similar to that pre workout I reviewed yesterday, that I compared to being as clean as a bag of diapers. What was that stuff called again? Oh. Epiq PureWod. Yeah. That’s it. You can read that review here if you like.

Here is the list of ingredients in the Top of the Choc though:

NZ Pasture Fed Whey Protein Concentrate

Cacao

Coconut Flour

Chia Sees

Psyllium Husk

Maca Powder

Stevia

Himalayan Rock Salt

Oh my what a pretty list! Seriously though. It’s like one of those hipster juice and smoothies joints that make 17 dollar smoothies that we all buy because of the fancy buzz words like ‘maca’ and ‘chia’. Lol. Is there enough of either of those to do anything meaningful for your health? Who knows. Do they do anything at all to begin with? Who knows. But we tell ourselves that they do. Lol. I actually do like that they are in here though because it gives it that mental placebo effect of ‘hey there are superfoods in here, it must be making me more healthy’.

So that’s pretty fun. There’s also a funny sounding form of dietary fiber in here called ‘psyllium husk’. It sounds like a Star Wars animal, doesn’t it?

What else. Macros. Macros…this is basic stuff from a macros perspective. About 120 calories, 21 grams of protein, very little of anything else. Oh, and they don’t tell you the fiber content which is strange. Let’s talk about packaging now.

Happy Way has really quirky, fun, branding. I bet some super fancy Australians hand drew all the silly little smart-aleck cartoony graphics and phrases such as ‘powders to unlock the universe’ and ‘period o’clock’ and ‘choc nicotine patch’ and others. I don’t know if it’s my humor, per se, but I think it’s clever. I also don’t know if I’m totally sold on bags of protein powder. I always seem to make more of a mess with pouches/bags than I do with good old fashioned jars. But. We’re nit-picking I suppose. I do like the way Top of the Choc looks. I think this is a company that is doing some cool things, and I look forward to trying some more of their products. I’m also a huge Ashy Bines fan-girl, so the fact that she is one of their ambassadors makes me like them more. Alright. Let’s sum this thing up.

Happy Way Review Summary

  • Flavor: 7.0
  • Formula: 9.0
  • Packaging: 8.9
  • Value: 8.5

Final Score: 8.6

I like Happy Way. I’d probably buy it again just because it makes me FEEL like I’m doing myself good. The shipping is a little pricey from AUS to here in the states, but you can find discounts floating around Instagram that will minimize that shipping cost. I think the taste leaves something to be desired, but you can just throw some extra Hershey’s Dark Cocoa powder in it, a bit of honey, a banana, and you’re good to go. Happy?
