Metabolic Nutrition reviews are coming to the site, and I’m so happy to announce that Protizyme is the first Metabolic review to be published. I feel like this is a brand that has flown under my radar for quite some time now- so to finally get my hands on some Protizyme protein samples and do an in-depth review for you guys is super exciting. In this protein powder review, I’m going to spend the majority of my time telling you about what I think are the two single most important aspects to any protein powder- the taste, and the taste. Because without the taste…wait. I mean’t taste, and ingredients. HA. But seriously though. Can you even stand having a bad tasting protein powder? I know I can’t. The best part about Protizyme might just be the taste- but we will explore this in very great detail. With regard to the formula, I’m going to basically micro-analyze each ingredient in here for you, so that you gain the understanding of what actually goes into each scoop of this Metabolic Nutrition Protizyme Protein supplement. The last thing I’ll cover off on in my Protizyme Review is the labeling and packaging. I mean. What’s a great protein powder if it doesn’t look good? Right. Not much. I want to be able to display this stuff proudly on my kitchen counter. So let’s get started and push play on this Metabolic Nutrition Protizyme Review!

Metabolic Nutrition caught my attention at the Mister Olympia weekend when they had this big foolish superhero costume guy running around doing pushups and pull-ups. At first I was annoyed by it and thought it was sophomoric, but then as I kept watching, I found that I was unable to take my eyes off of this guy. I mean. He just had so much energy that it was practically infectious! I’m not going to lie- I ended up going over to their booth just to check this guy out. I ultimately ended up getting some samples of their protein supplement, and here we are now, with a fresh review idea. It’s funny to me how some of those super old-school marketing tactics are still effective to this day! Who would have thought. Year 2015 and dressing up as a superhero is still an impactful way to get through to new customers. I love it. But did I love the actual Protizyme Protein Powder? Well. Yeah. I really did.

What is the Best Metabolic Nutrition Protizyme Flavor?

The best flavor of Protizyme, to me was the Banana Creme. This flavor was absolutely fantastically delicious and I would say if you are forced to get just one flavor, this one should get the nod. Luckily for me, I had the opportunity to snag a handful of different flavor samples, so why don’t I run through real quick and jot down my thoughts on each flavor. You know I tried them all within like a ten minute span so I can tell you- I KNOW my Protizyme flavors real well at this point. LOL. So here goes. I’ll start with the best and end with my least favorite.

1st Place: Banana Creme- So. My Mother actually makes a MEAN Banana Creme pie. So whenever I have something that is the banana creme flavor, it invokes some very fond memories for me and brings me to a super special place. This flavor of protein powder was incredibly tasty, and I found that it stayed very true to a real Banana Creme pie taste. Just like Mom used to make.

2nd Place: Peanut Butter Cookie- Peanut Butter. Oh how I love peanut butter flavored ANYTHING. And cookies. Oh how I LOVE cookies. Needless to say when you combine those two of my favorite things, and make something with high protein content- it’s love at first taste. And that’s exactly what this flavor of Protizyme was for me. If the Banana Creme wasn’t so OUT OF THIS WORLD good, than I’d be raving even more dramatically about this one. All that means is that Metabolic did a phenomenal job with both flavors.

3rd Place: Vanilla Cake- The Vanilla Cake-flavored Metabolic Nutrition Protizyme was my bronze winner because it was just a good, clean-tasting take on the classic vanilla flavored protein. There was absolutely notes of cake in here, which I was a fan of. But unlike some of the other proteins that I’ve tried that try and replicate a cake flavor, Metabolic did a good job of balancing the real vanilla taste with that sort of lemon-ey cake-ey taste. It’s quite tasty.

4th Place: Chocolate Cake- I’m picking Chocolate Cake right after the vanilla because it was JUST slightly under the flavor quality of the vanilla. I found the texture of the vanilla and the smoothness to be just a cut above this chocolate cake flavor. I enjoyed the Chocolate Cake, but it didn’t really taste like cake at all, per say. It was just a plain old chocolate. But I love chocolate so plain old or not, this one hit the spot.

5th Place: Butter Pecan Cookie- the Butter Pecan Cookie was my least favorite flavor of Protizyme because in my opinion it tasted more like a sugar cookie or one of those super generic Christmas cookies. When I first read ‘Butter Pecan’ I was immediately thinking ‘Pecan Pie’ that you have at Thanksgiving supper. But this didn’t really taste like that at all so I was a little disappointed. You actually can’t pick up much Pecan flavor at all. Sort of a strange aftertaste to this one too in my opnion.

So those are my top picks for the flavors. Let’s spend some time talking about the ingredients in Metabolic Protizyme Protein Powder.

Metabolic Nutrition Protizyme Formula Grade: 8.6

This protein blend has an interesting spin on it, in that the whole focus of the product seems to be on the digestive enzyme and also the ‘immunoglobulins’ content of Protizyme. If you’ve never said the word ‘immunoglobulins’ out loud- I HIGHLY recommend that you do this right now. It might be my new favorite word. And I might name my child that. Um. You’re getting tired Allie. Yes. Yes I am. Ok. So the formulation of Metabolic Nutrition Protizyme is actually way more basic than they would have you believe. Which is fine. I get marketing. And honestly this isn’t a lousy cheap formula with a bunch of hype. This is a good clean product made up of micro-filtered whey isolate and whey concentrate. I personally would buy this one for use after super high-intensity training when I needed that quick recovery. Otherwise I prefer a blended protein like an Apollo or Fitmiss Delight. But this one does have that cool enzyme complex that consists of:

  • amylase
  • protease
  • cellulase
  • calactohydrolase
  • lactase
  • lipase
  • betaine
  • pepsin
  • papain

I personally don’t really know what these various ingredients do, but I’m pretty sure that these ingredients are responsible for making sure your gut is able to handle the high protein content of these protein powders. I’ve actually seen this type of complex in other protein formulas so I think it’s a popular way to make sure your tummy is feeling good when you drink the protein supplement. in terms of the ‘stats’ of Protizyme- they are quite favorable as you can see:

  • Calories: 126
  • Saturated Fat: 0.5g
  • Cholesterol: 62mg
  • Total Carbohydrates: 2g
  • Fiber: 1g
  • Sodium: 52mg
  • Sugars: 1g
  • Protein: 25g

I mean. That’s pretty tough to beat. Just one gram of sugar, and virtually no fat or carbs. Yes please. The protein content is also a nice sturdy 25 gram serving. Alrighty. So we’ve got a solid formula. We’ve got two really, really good flavors. How’s the package look that’s what she said?

Metabolic Nutrition Protizyme Packaging Grade: 9.0

Well it looks like we have a winner. Because guess what? I’m a big fan of Protizyme’s labeling and overall aesthetic. The white bottle is very upscale looking and gives you the sense that this is a really good clean protein. The thing that I absolutely love most about this protein packaging is how MASSIVE Metabolic Nutrition made the flavor graphic. Take the banana creme for example. The label is DOMINATED by the big banana slices falling back into a backdrop of cool creme. I mean. You practically start slobbering just looking at the Protizyme label. It’s no doubt that I was going to be loving this product in my Protizyme review. Was there any ever doubt? This borrows the luxury, minimalist look of Protein World’s Slender Blend, and combines it with the big, bold, delicious looking flavor graphics of Shakeology. It’s like the best of both worlds. It’s so good. if I had one suggestion for them to improve on this design it would be to take some of the text that wraps around the front panel and just clean it up to include only the most important things. It’s just a tiny bit busy. But we’re nit-picking here. This is a beautiful design.

Metabolic Nutrition Protizyme Review Summary

  • Metabolic Nutrition Protizyme Flavor Grade: 8.0-9.5
  • Metabolic Nutrition Protizyme Formula Grade: 8.6
  • Metabolic Nutrition Protizyme Packaging Grade: 9.0
  • Metabolic Nutrition Protizyme Value Grade: 9.0

I have to give it to the folks at Metabolic. I can see why they are the second fastest growing company in Florida (thanks Instagram). This Protizyme tastes fantastic- with the top Banana Creme flavor earning a stellar 9.5 in my book. The formula is pretty basic as it’s a simple whey blend- but simple is fine by me. Protizyme looks great to boot. The price point is on the higher side, but I’d still give it a shot.

Metabolic Nutrition Protizyme Final Review Score: 9.3
