Ryse protein reviews are more and more prevalent as this young brand starts gaining some traction…

But I can assure you – this will be the most thorough run-down that you will find.

What to Expect in This Ryse Review

In this review, I will do what I always do in my protein powder reviews, and that is grade the product from the inside out…

All the while adding my own unique flair, you know, to keep things spicy.

In this review I will discuss the flavors, the formulation, and the packaging to piece together the ultimate Ryse protein powder review.

Who knows – Ryse might just be on the LovelyList™ for protein powders this year.

How I Found Ryse

I was super curious to get my hands on Ryse Loaded Protein after seeing some positive Instagram reviews…

I was even seeing it pop up on Tik-Tok, and in some of the popular protein reddit threads too…

But as you guys know – it’s hard to know what to trust these days.

I just had to grab some Ryse protein for myself, to see how it stacks up to the competition.

So let’s put some yeast in this thing, pop it into the oven, and let the Ryse protein review, well, rise!

(Wow that was cringey writing)

Let’s start with a quick background of the Ryse brand itself.

About Ryse

Ryse is a massive, nationally-distributed brand now…

But if you’re an old hag like me, you remember the origin story.

If the name ‘Shredz‘ means anything to you, than you are old enough for this all to make sense…

Shredz was the original influencer-marketed weight-loss brand from the 2010’s era.

They were massive.

And one of their core influencers was this dude ‘Joey Swoll‘.

He was super popular on Instagram back when fitness instagram was more popular…

He gained a massive following from the Shredz brand back when Shredz was still poppin’ off…

But after a while, he got tired of promoting the Shredz brand, and branched off on his own.

And over time, he has grown ‘Ryse’ into one of today’s most popular protein brands.

UPDATE: I’m actually not sure at this time of updating (01.25.24), if Joey is still involved with Ryse anymore or not – he might have sold it to a bigger company by now...

Now – this is not the first ‘influencer-founded’ supplement brand that I’ve reviewed.

Take Katy Hearn’s Alani Nu, which is very successful…

Or Cass Martin’s WRKETHIC….which… well… hasn’t quite had the same level of success…

But with any of these influencer-themed brands, I start by reviewing the protein powder.

You can tell a lot about a company by it’s protein powder… that’s for sure!

Alani Nu Protein is a perfect example of the protein being a successful cornerstone of a product line.

But let’s cut to the chase and start breaking down Ryse’s Loaded Protein.

Let’s start with these amazing flavors first.

Ryse Protein Flavor Analysis

Ryse Loaded Protein comes in a whopping eleven flavors, which is kind of insane.

It certainly makes it hard to pick out just one, doesn’t it?

But unfortunately that is the reality.

What I did to help you guys out, was grab a tub of their 8 most-popular flavors…

I tried each one, and will share my thoughts on each one below.

NOTE: I used one level scoop of Loaded Protein mixed into 12 ounces of whole milk for my taste-test.

Jet-Puffed Marshmallow

This was the first Ryse protein flavor that I tried, and it was actually fantastic.

The did a colab with the actual ‘Jet-Puffed’ marshmallow brand, which is super cool.

I’ve honestly never had a marshmallow-flavored protein powder before, so I didn’t know what to expect.

But this flavor was so light, and smooth, that I couldn’t stop drinking it.

Some people might find it ‘too sweet’, but I have a crazy sweet tooth so I loved it…

Jet-Puffed Birthday Cake

This is the second ‘Jet-Puffed’ colab that Ryse did, and this one was a little weird.

‘Jet-Puffed’ is a marshmallow flavor, so the fact that they combined it with a birthday cake flavor sounded good at first…

But I thought the reality tasted a little off…

It tasted almost like a birthday cake that had the wrong frosting on it, if that makes sense.

I will say that my daughter was obsessed with this flavor, but I think that was more because of the packaging than the actual flavor, lol.

She is certainly her Mom’s daughter.

Fruity Crunch

This flavor was actually okay, even though I expected it to be pretty bad.

It tasted a little bit like the Ghost Whey ‘Fruity Cereal Milk’ flavor, but just a tad sweeter, which I didn’t mind.

I picked up flavors of orange, grape, and I think apple as well, which sounds weird, but they do all work together at the end of the day…

If you are looking for something fun, fruity, and nostalgic, than this flavor might be the one for you.

Vanilla Peanut Butter

I love vanilla, don’t get me wrong.

Just go read my 1st Phorm protein review if you think I’m lying…

Because I actually gave their best flavor award to the ‘boring’ old Vanilla Milkshake flavor.

So I had a very open mind to the Ryse Loaded protein Vanilla Peanut Butter flavor.

Unfortunately, this flavor just wasn’t it for me.

It didn’t have nearly a strong enough vanilla flavor…

Or maybe the peanut butter flavor was just too strong…

Either way, I just got so much peanut butter out of this one that it just sort of came off wrong to my palette.

There are much better options when it comes to the Ryse protein flavors.

Blueberry Muffin

Now this flavor, I could drink almost every day.

You guys know I am a sucker for anything blueberry flavor, so I was pretty stoked to try this one – and it did not disappoint.

If you guys have ever been to a Dunkin’ Donuts and had one of their blueberry muffins…

This tastes exactly like that, in the best way possible.

It is sweet, decadent, and really tastes like a muffin somehow.

That’s the best way I can describe it – it is simply fantastic.

MoonPie Chocolate

Now this is one of the most creative protein powder flavors that I’ve ever tried.

And by the way…

Someone on the Ryse team must have a serious thing for marshmallows.

Because this is like the third marshmallow-themed flavor in their line-up!

But honestly I’m not even mad about it, because this flavor is incredible.

If you are into s’mores, than this flavor is for you.

You get chocolate, graham cracker, and marshmallow all in one.

It tastes like a real moonpie but also if you close your eyes it also tastes quite a bit like a s’more.

This was probably my favorite of the Ryse Loaded protein flavors.

Skippy Peanut Butter

So… I kind of had a hard time with this flavor because I had already tried the Vanilla Peanut Butter flavor…

And I just kind of felt like this flavor tasted too similar to that one in a way?

I don’t know… maybe my palette was just getting a little fatigued from having tried 8 different protein flavors in one sitting…

But I felt like this protein flavor was just very generic.

I know it is one of their most popular flavors, and is one of their official ‘colab’ flavors with Skippy, which is cool…

But it missed the mark for me for some reason, not really sure why.

Cinnamon Toast

The second-to-last flavor of Ryse Protein that I tried was the cinnamon toast.

This flavor was actually really really good.

I don’t know that it tasted quite like the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal after which it was most likely named…

But I do think that it had some really nice ‘cozy’ sweet cinnamon notes..

I would compare it actually to those old ‘Dunkaroos’ snacks that we used to get as kids…

(If you know what I’m talking about, then yes we are getting old, and yes you will love this flavor. Lol.)

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup

The Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup flavor was a total hit for me and my son.

I gave him a little sip after he was whining and pointing…

(you Mom’s out there know the whine and point very well, come on now)

And after that, he was all smiles, while of course whining and pointing for more and more…

So when Mommy finally got a chance to try it, there was only a little bit left.

But that first sip was so good that I made another batch.

I found it to be absolutely fabulous.

Unlike the Skippy Peanut Butter, or vanilla peanut butter flavors, this one was actually on point.

There was also a great depth to this flavor that I didn’t get in the other peanut butter flavors that made this one of my favorite Ryse Loaded Protein flavors.

So.

With all of those great choices…

Which was my actual favorite?

What is the Best Flavor of Ryse Loaded Protein?

In summary – I can say firsthand that the flavors of Ryse Loaded protein are impressive indeed…

And there is more than enough flavor to cover the tiny bit of ‘chalkyness’ that most proteins, including this one, have.

If I did have one critique, it would be that there is just a tiny bit of that chalky texture at the end…

But, overall Ryse protein tastes phenomenal…

But as far as my favorite, it has to be the Moonpie flavor.

…As far as my favorite, it has to be the Moonpie flavor.”

lovelyreviews.com

The Moonpie flavor was just so unique, and unlike anything else I’ve tried.

It was so flavorful, and so perfectly sweetened that I could drink it all day long.

I will say that my other two favorite flavors were the Chocolate Peanut Butter, and the Jet-Puffed Marshmallow.

So those are my thoughts on Ryse protein from a flavor standpoint…

But let’s talk about the Ryse Loaded Protein formulation now.

What Ingredients are in Ryse Loaded Protein?

The ingredients are pretty much the most important thing I consider when evaluating a protein powder.

The ingredients used basically determine whether a protein powder is healthy or not.

Depending on what proteins are in it, what sweeteners are used, etc., a product really is defined by it’s ingredients.

The ingredients also determine the macros – and macros are obviously very important as well.

So let’s look at both the ingredients and macros of Ryse protein, and then we’ll talk about my thoughts on whether it is a successful formulation or not.

Ryse Loaded Protein Ingredients

  • Instantized Whey Protein Isolate
  • Instantized Whey Protein Concentrate
  • MCT Oil Powder
  • Organic Agave Inulin
  • Natural & Artificial Flavor
  • Cinnamon
  • Sodium Chloride
  • Gum Blend (Cellulose Gum, Xanthan Gum, Carrageenan)
  • Sucralose
  • Acesulfame Potassium

NOTES

So the ingredients in Ryse Loaded Protein are pretty standard but you do have a few interesting things to note…

The most remarkable aspect is that this protein powder has included MCT Oil Powder & prebiotic fiber.

These ingredients aid in cognitive energy (mct) and digestive health (fiber) respectively.

I think these two additions are super basic, but thoughtful.

The biggest downside of this product in general comes from the presence of artificial flavors and sweeteners.

I have never been a fan of products that use the artificial ingredients and unfortunately that is the achilles heel of the Ryse product.

…artificial sweeteners are the Achilles Heel of this product…”

lovelyreviews.com

It’s super hard for me to really get behind an artificially sweetened and flavored product no matter how great it tastes.

Let’s take a look at the macros now…

Ryse Loaded Protein Macros

  • Calories 140
  • Calories from Fat 25
  • Total Fat 2.5g
  • Saturated Fat 1.5g
  • Cholesterol 35mg
  • Total Carbohydrate 5g
  • Dietary Fiber 2g
  • Sugars 1g
  • Protein 25g

NOTES

These macros are pretty standard for a protein powder…

I’ve seen calories come in a little bit lower than 140 with some proteins, but I’ll tell you why Ryse Protein is slightly more caloric in the section below…

(Hint: it has to do with the fats!)

The extra calories are actually most likely due to the added MCT oil powder.

Even though I do appreciate this ingredient being included in the product, it is definitely responsible for the added calories.

At the end of the day though, it’s only about 10 extra calories, so not a big deal for most people.

Now. Before we look at the Ryse packaging and finish up the review…

A quick word on the Ryse protein cost.

Is Ryse Protein Worth the Money?

Some products have checked all the boxes for me, but have been too expensive.

And then some products don’t review all that well, but are priced so cheaply that they are still a good buy.

Ryse is priced just about right, in my opinion.

At $45 for a 2 pound, 27 serving jar, they are priced identically to Ghost Whey protein, and inline with many others.

I do think this is a fair price given how good these flavors are, and given that the formula checks out as well.

Another thing I love about Ryse is their packaging.

Ryse Loaded Protein Looks Great.

On first glance, Ryse protein reminds me alot of a few other supplement brands- namely MyoBlox and Inspired Nutraceuticals.

The white vibe with the gray subtle graphics reminds me alot of those other brands.

Ryse features a large gold foil Ryse logo with the company name dominating the majority of the front panel.

The flavor graphic sits along the bottom edge, while a large graffiti graphic reads boldly ‘fuel your greatness’ along the side.

I think that this Ryse protein packaging is great.

It is definitely modern, which I give them credit for.

The product does certainly borrow inspiration from numerous other supplement brands like I mentioned…

And come to think of it, it seems as though Ryse Loaded Protein borrows some graphical cues from the Ghost Whey protein as well.

In particular the graffiti elements remind me of Ghost.

I will give the Ryse team a solid B on design.

It has to be tough to innovate in the scene these days.

But they’ve done a nice job.

Okay let’s summarize things and get out of here.

Ryse Loaded Protein Review Summary

— Ryse is the popular brand originally started by influencer Joey Swoll of Instagram notoriety

— Loaded Protein comes in eleven great flavors including two ‘Jet-Puffed’ partnership collaboration flavors, along with several others

The best flavor of Ryse protein is the Moonpie flavor, while the ‘Jet-Puffed Marshmallow and Chocolate Peanut Butter are exceptional as well

At around $1.67 per serving, Ryse protein is priced fairly, and in line with other premium proteins on the market

So what’s the bottom line on the Ryse Loaded Protein?

Well – Ryse comes in some incredible flavors, has a unique formula, looks great, and is priced quite competitively.

I’m irked by the artificial ingredients, but at the end of the day, Ryse is a great buy.*
